Colorado baseball is trying something new this year, a season opener at home. For the first time since 2004 the Bears will open at Jackson Field as they host Montana State Billings on Feb. 21-23.

The Bears also host Air Force, Houston Baptist, Utah Valley and Texas-Pan American in contests throughout the season and face four NCAA Regional teams in Dallas Baptist, Nebraska, Southern Mississippi and Tulane as well as a three Mountain West Teams in Air Force, New Mexico and UNLV and Big 12 member Kansas.

Once again our schedule is very challenging, said head coach Kevin Smallcomb. We play in five different regions and against four NCAA participants from last year. This is the kind of schedule that continues to help grow our program and make it very appealing to Colorado recruits who want to play Division I baseball.

After back-to-back seasons with 24 straight games on the road to open the year, the Bears are excited to not have more than 14 games on the road in a row in 2009.

Competitive Schedule

We have a very competitive schedule continued Smallcomb. But one that is a little more balanced in terms of length of road trips. Our team will have an easier time of their class schedules and it allows our fans to see the team throughout the four months of our season.
